~friday~
where to start off... i think i took off on
Friday and after picking up Rose went to Five points to eat at burger king since all the ones in corpus are closed. that one also was closed, not because of the rest of the city, but because of the massive shutdown of chevrons in the city. this i know because that is the only gas card i have. so this burger king/chevron was no more... i think we settled for whataburger. i think it took is about 3 and a half hours to get up to austin, because we stopped like 5 times, and i wasn’t trying to speed. rose and i where staying with krishelle, so by the time we got there she was already downtown... i parked in my usual parking space, and rose changed and got ready in the car. we found krishelle at the aquarium... w/ alix and nicole, and a few other girls... after drinking some and hanging around upstairs, we took of and went to Logans... since it was parents weekend, all the Greek students, thought it would be cool to come to sixth and drink with their parents... idiots. anyway, we hung out at logan’s till it was around 2am... nicole was way to drunk (so was krishelle and rose) to drive, so we tried to get her to come.. of course at first she said okay, but changed her mind after 5 seconds and tried to go the other way. it took what seemed like forever to get her in the truck and to let us take her to krishelles... once we got to krishelle’s, she didnt want to get out of the truck- and i had to help her out. she then proceeded to lay on the grass with her face hanging over the curb, and after throwing up- she just stayed there for about an hour or two. not that we didnt do anything because we did, but rose and i gave up quickly and let the host take care of her... it was pretty funny since they where both wasted, and nicole was wearing a skirt that was pulled up and exposed her ass to the whole world since she was only wearing a thong... after a long time krishelle finally got her to come in and let her pass out in the bathroom. i got to go to sleep for about 5 minutes when i was woken up by the sounds of throw up... it was rose, and she kept me awake for the next 2 hours because she couldnt get it all out.
~saturday
i had roses cell phone alarm set, but when i turned it off she wanted to sleep like another 30 minutes.... i don’t know when we finally woke up, but everyone else was still asleep... first thing we did that day, was we went to the Old Pecan St. Festival on 6th st... it is an arts an craft festival that the city puts on every fall and spring. it is one of my favorite things to go to, even though i never really buy anything... after that we had lunch at Chuy’s on Barton Springs... rose had never eaten there, and i had been dying for some chips and salsa for like 2 months... then we went to Flipnotics which is located almost across the street from Chuy’s. it is a vintage store, but to expensive. then we headed over to Waterloo records to look for some vinyl that i can’t find anywhere else. they have a pretty good selection for alt, punk, and rap... we also check out waterloo video that has a really cool cult section and has good recommendations. after that we headed to over to my favorite art gallery called art on 5th... it is pretty cool and is always changing the style and artist they have. my favorite collection they have there, are a group of painting by the late Dr. Seuss... i plan to buy one when i get rich... then we went down the street to a place called Alien records that specializes in technotronica on vinyl... you can find a lot of good trance and jungle imports at good prices. anyway, after that we headed out of downtown and into the west campus area. the whole are was packed, but i finally found a parking space around 29th... then we headed over to toy joy , which has always been my favorite toy store since i first went to UT. this is a place that you can stay in for hours and never get bored... this is a dream for any kid big or small. after that we went next door to buffalo exchange , which is the hippest and cheapest vintage store in austin. they sell and buy name brand cloths at good prices. and even though it is right next to campus, your more likely to find someone that grew up in austin there, instead of the yuppie college crowd. then we headed over to a place that is for the rich college folk, but still cool- urban outfitters the only reason i like it is for the upstairs part, and not really the clothes. rose bought this shirt that i thought she would look hot in... i was right... we finished shopping for the day and went to meet up with alex woehrle and jared at double daves located off of 24th... they where drinking, and getting ready for the big game... we only stayed for a little bit, and then headed over to cain and abels located a few blocks away from where we just had been. krishelle was there having a pre-game party that was put on by pricewaterhousecoopers , or however you spell it. (somewhere around this time, rose and i went to c-mart to get loto tickets) they where having a party there for there employees, and she hooked us up with some free beers...the game was about to start and i knew krishelle wasn’t ready, so rose and i took off w/ out her. the game... TEXAS vs. texas tech . game 3, parents weekend. 85,000 people in attendance and the 1st quarter was underway by the time we got there. they said security would be tighter, but i didn’t see it... for the first time i sat on the parents side, and for the 1st time, i did not take a camera... it was a great game. we dominated and never lost sight of victory for a second. maybe that is why Texas was ranked #5 in the country as of that game. i think we won like 44-7, but rose and i left before the game was over to make it across campus and beat traffic. i think by the time we got to the truck the game was already over, and people where heading out. since we where both hungry, and it was to late and would be to crowded to go to a restaurant, i thought it would be cool if we went to alamo drafthouse. for those who don’t know, the drafthouse is a place that show’s really cool movies, serves beer, and also serves food. I finally got to see Made , which i had been dying to see for such a long time. It is so fucking worth it. i think the drafthouse is the only theatre showing it in texas, and i think we saw the last showing. Vince Vaughn... and Jon Favreau are so funny together. i couldn’t compare it to swingers like everyone else, because it is a completely different movie. see it on video, or in your part of the country if you still can... so we got a bucket of beers, and ordered to huge meals... the bill was huge... after that we went back to the car since i paid like $1000 (same price i paid for the football tickets) for parking. instead of going somewhere else, rose put on her make up in the car, and we walked form 2nd to 6th st... i think we met up with krishelle and the girls at the aquarium again. she was already trashed, and rose and i only stayed like 30 minutes. after that we walked around 6th and went into a few bars. i took her to my favorite place casino el camino ... this is the only place that i know i will never see anyone else i know... i think after that i stopped by buffalo billiards for a few drinks and ran into patrick wheeler and sean massie who where playing pool... we then went over to ‘logans’ we drank some more and where suppose to meet up with krishelle, but she was no where around. lets call this sunday....
